If you go down to the woods today you’re sure of a big surprise. If you go down to the woods today you’d better go in disguise. For every bear that ever there was will gather there for certain because today’s the day that Brendan brings his pinhole [Camera].
Kilinthomas is 70 hectares of woodlands near the village of Rathangan in County Kildare. It was planted sometime around the 1830’s and has a great mixture of old hardwood trees, oak, ash and beech. These are now very mature and give an ancient feel to the woods.
The woodland has won awards for its conservation efforts and is managed by Coilte. The locals taken a very keen interest in the area and ensure that it is always well maintained.
This was my second visit to the woods. Earlier in the year I wanted to see the famous bluebell and garlic flower paths but the weather conspired against me. It will be a great excuse to visit again in the spring.
